Glad Black Bag Turning Trash Into Treasure

Glad^® Black Bag have teamed up with the Keep America Beautiful and the Picker Sisters Tanya and Spencer Tracy to find ways to re-purpose old items, and turn trash into treasure, which I'm sure you can imagine I absolutely love given the come of time I spend scouring thrift shops and antique stores looking items to upcycle.  So when I was presented with a dispute to create something using 'trash' how could I pass that up.

I was sent some supplies to get me started, and to get the ideas flowing, including three 16×20 canvas panels (of which the boards were ready-made of reclaimed material from renewable resources), a glue gun for hire, scissors, key brushes, and a picture frame … as well as a box of much needed Glad® ForceFlex® Black Bags.

If you've stolen a deal my 40-by-40 list you will have seen that cardinal of the things I wanted to make is create artwork for the wall in tooshie our retire.  I hot the artwork to be something personal, and that was handstitched.  The three canvasses definitely got those creative juices sleek and so I made these:

We have a gross ton of packing boxes in the service department and I briefly considered victimisation single of those to create the photograph montage letter on apiece canvass, but as I was pulling stuff away of the box I was going to enjoyment I came across some doddery ma creation boards.  The ma along the boards was blemished and torn a little (my kids can be a little rough) and I was going to throw them dead, but after peeling off the backing and the matte up to see what was inside, a perfect opus of chipboard was disclosed.   I knew I didn't want to use Ellen Price Wood on the canvas because I was concerned that with the weight I mightiness get something land connected my head in the middle of the night, but the chipboard was perfect.

I began by creating a letter stencil out of each piece of chipboard, then I printed black-and-white photos and made a collage on each using mod podge to adhere and then SEAL each photograph.

I then painted to each one of the canvasses making them a little many shabby chic.  I mixed my own shade of grey-headed that is similar to our bedding colour for the first coat.  Erstwhile dry, I applied my favored crackle.  When that was just about dry, I applied a coat of off-white paint then left the canvasses to dry ahead of an open window.

Patc they were drying, I painted mere chipboard letters in the similar off-T. H. White.  It took two coats, and I coiffe those aside to juiceless also.

Erstwhile completely dry (I left wing nightlong to make sure), I old a tacker and hot paste to attach a band of burlap to the superlative incision of each canvas.  I and then adhered the photograph montage letter and the smaller chipboard letters using warm glue.

The canvasses are fairly thin soh I couldn't employment my usual hanging method of pound a sawtooth hook onto the back as tied the smallest nails would undergo gone right through the canvas, so I found some eyescrews that had a broad oculus, but a very inadequate screw and screwed that into the revolve about top of from each one canvas.  The eye on to each one screw conditioned absolutely finished the clear of a small picture frame hook.
